About the event

Join this futures-thinking Fashion Fictions workshop to imagine and explore enticing alternative fashion Worlds.

Fashion Fictions brings people together to generate, experience and reflect on engaging fictional visions of alternative fashion cultures and systems. Through these activities, we gain new perspectives on challenges, possibilities and pathways for change in the real world. The project is led by Dr Amy Twigger Holroyd, Associate Professor of Fashion and Sustainability at Nottingham School of Art & Design.

This workshop, hosted by Sustainable Fashion Scotland and volunteers, will focus on the first stage of Fashion Fictions. We will support you to generate outlines of fictional fashion cultures and systems – ‘Worlds’ – presented via 100-word sketches, and to discuss our thinking in groups.

The future-thinking process will take us away from the real world and then bring us back with a sense of wonder, with fresh eyes and a more open mind towards pathways for change in the real world.

Come along to get creative, grow your imagination, and gain hopeful inspiration to create transformative change in fashion in Scotland.

WHAT TO BRING

  • Writing materials: paper and pen or a digital document you can type in
  • Drawing materials if you’d like to draw as well as write
  • An open mind!
