About the event

Join us to connect with the #SustFashScotland community and explore ways forward together.

This month we are discussing ‘How can we nurture queer identity, creativity, and community?' led by Oskar Kirk Hansen, also known as Mystika Glamoor, the ‘surrealist socialist socialite’ of the Edinburgh drag scene, host of cabaret GLAMOOR at The Street bar, and co-owner and founder of Kafe Kweer, a sober safe space for Edinburgh’s queer community and its artists.

As the world returns to meeting together in person, physical spaces that sustain community wellbeing, joy, and hope are essential. Launched in the height of the pandemic in 2020, Kafe Kweer is a sober, safe space for Edinburgh’s queer community and its artists. The owners nurture community through monthly exhibitions and events in the space including life drawing, drag and craft markets, rapid HIV testing, and board game nights.

Helping us celebrate and protest this Pride Month, Oskar will share their story and lead a discussion on drag, charity shops, queer creativity, the various events at Kafe Kweer, and beyond! Mystika will be sharing stories of their favourite drag charity shop finds, and we would love to learn about the stories behind your own secondhand or DIY treasures - particularly any related to queer identity, creativity, and community!

In addition to coming together at events, one of the best ways to celebrate Pride is to educate ourselves on its history and the stories of the black trans women who progressed LGBTQIA+ rights for us through protest and activism.

Sadly, this is the last of 10 funded Community Calls made possible by the GCU Magnusson Award, but we are proud to be able to use the last Community Call funding to support Oskar's time and expertise during this Pride Month!

The SFS Community Call is held on the last Thursday of the month and provides a space to connect and discuss current topics within the #SustFashScotland community.

Please be aware takeaways from the audio and video recording will be used in SFS communication. We may record part or all of the event for publication on our website. Get in touch with our team about any Zoom accessibility requirements.
