About the event
Join us to connect with the #SustFashScotland community and explore ways forward together.
This month we are discussing ‘How can we strengthen design and material reuse networks in rural places?' led by Hannah Clinch, a designer who works in a community context, co-designing products and services with people. Her work explores heritage, place and material culture, using stories and artefacts to engage people with design and sustainable approaches to community enterprise.
In addition to design, Hannah is a learning facilitator for the Social Enterprise Academy and an advisor for Green Map in Scotland. 20 years ago Hannah produced her first Green Map of Glasgow focused on reuse opportunities in the city called ‘Dear Green Place: Your Glasgow guide to reuse’.
The map featured charity shops and community-based projects offering reuse opportunities for clothing and household goods. During the call we will explore how this project was developed and what it revealed about the diverse nature of the community reuse sector, along with some fascinating facts about the history of the city’s waste management systems.
Today Hannah lives in Dunoon, Argyll in an area that is classified as rural and economically fragile. She has recently developed a Green Map of reuse and repair organisations for her local area and will share her thoughts on the differences and challenges of working as a designer in a more rural context.
The SFS Community Call is held on the last Thursday of the month and provides a space to connect and discuss current topics within the #SustFashScotland community.
Please be aware takeaways from the audio and video recording will be used in SFS communication. We may record part or all of the event for publication on our website.
